Here We Go Again
In all of the planning and research that I do for some of these vacations you would think that I would pay attention to the time of year it is and what may be happening in the sports world. In the past we have traveled during the Superbowl, yes, when the Pats were in it. As a matter of fact, we were on our way home from Vegas one year when they were playing the Giants, we had a connection in Philly I think it was, we got to see some of the game, the Pats were up and clearly going to win but it was time to board and all of us Pats fans got on the plane, confident that the victory was ours. Then just after take off the pilot came on to tell us that the Pats had lost...that was the longest, quietest plane ride ever. In 2013, in October we were in Costa Rica and the Red Sox were playing in the World Series. Luckily we actually did see that last couple of games and saw them win.
So why would I want to ruin my record now....the Red Sox are in the playoffs and we are traveling. Their first game is against the Spankees on Friday night and we fly out Saturday and while it is not the early flights that I have been known to book, it is early enough that I probably will not get to see the first marathon playoff game between these two teams.
Anyway, as most of you know, we are on a quest to find a chill laid back place to spend some time during what we hope will work out to be an early retirement (fingers crossed). This vacation Dave and I are off to Panama - every time I say it I hear David Lee Roth in my head singing "Panama, Panama....." ha - I hope at least one person gets that!
Panama is a rather thin country north to south and its size is really in its width running east to west and like many Central American countries it is contains a wide variety of options for people looking to vacation and retire there. There is the bustling city with its architecture and canal (not for us), there is an archipelago of islands in the Caribbean Sea with a laid back vibe, there are mountains and cloud forests and an entire Pacific Coast to be considered. Far too much to discover in one trip but we will do our best to see much of this diverse country while we are there.
So, here we go again...seeing what's out there, where we might fit in and basically just having fun!
